This is an idea brought forth to me by a very wise man... I was discussing our situation as recipents of ODSP (Ontario Disability Support Program) and Ontario Works (formerly Welfare)....

 

It was brought to my attention that we need to fight for our MONIES!!    Think about it... We have a spouse that receives the cheque every month.... But, if we work, they lose money... Why is that?  Should this be fair?  NOT!

 

As a working family on ODSP myself (my husband receives the cheque).... We would get $1962/month for our family of four.... But, you see the government feels they should penalize us for having children (they take $226.42 of my boys $514/month) and for my working (they take half of my income every month)... So, as a result, he receives about $1100/month....

 

So, my thought is to give said person a base amount of money each month and leave it at that... There should be no penalization for monies earned....
